I think the great point that this film presents is that though we as humans do much that harms our natural world, it is through our very human qualities of compassion and nurturing that we can repair and strengthen this fragile relationship. Awesome job, Katie!

This was a very heart warming, joy filled episode. I am glad to see that I am not the only human on this planet that understands that we have a special bond with EVERYTHING on the planet.

I loved this. What a gentle soul. That all humans could be like this wonderful heartfelt man. Thank you.

I recently watched this video via podcast, & I cannot get Don & the animals at the center out of my head. It was wonderful to witness their relationships, & obvious fondness, they share with each other. The Red Lodge Nature Center has experienced tragedy since this piece aired. In October 2009, two attacks by what is believed to be the same black bear took place within only a couple of weeks. First, Angel -the beloved 23 yr old Angora goat- was killed when the bear dug under the fence to gain entry into the enclosure. Then Talitha, a mule deer, died, & Smiley, Talitha's mule deer companion, was injured when the bear scaled the fence for the second attack. Smiley lost both horns, split one of his hooves, & sustained a ripped lower lip due to the attack &/or attempting to escape. Although the center immediately worked to fortify the fence, I just read that the Center -which relies mostly on donations- will be trying to raise enough money this year (2010) to move to a better location a few miles away. A worthy cause, indeed. ~KC (The article mentioned above, "Bear breakes into Red Lodge nature center" dated 10/27/09- can be found at: www.billingsgazette.com)
